Several problems can cause engine oil to burn. First, you need to figure out if your engine oil is burning, leaking, or just being utilized at a higher rate than normal.
Signs of burnt oil are increased pressure in crankcase, exhaust smoke, increased oil usage, and reduced engine pressure (caused by worn out valve seals). Despite the number of problems that may lead to burnt engine oil, you can check for some issues prior to calling a mechanic.
1. Check the covers of your valve. If your valve covers are not properly tightened, slow and non pressurized leakage can occur. See to it that the bolts are not loose but remember not to over tighten, bend, or crack the covers. To help avoid over tightening, use a torque.

4. Check the oil filter. Check if there is oil clogging in the filter or if the oil bypasses the filter.
