GODFREY — Members of the Fat Boys of Illinois antique car club met for lunch Wednesday at Roper’s Regal Beagal restaurant in Godfrey, putting on an instant car show.

The group, who show their vehicles at a variety of events around the area each year, meet for lunch from time to time, always on a beautiful sunny day.

One of the cars on display Wednesday was a 1927 Model T Touring Car. Originally built to go about 30 m.p.h. in 1927, the car’s owner has the car souped up with a high compression engine that will let it reach a whopping 55 miles per hour.

The group picked a near perfect day to line up and eat lunch in their classic rides.
